Dalena Tran is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology in the Autonomous University of Barcelona (ICTA-UAB), where she researches violence against women environmental defenders during ecological distribution conflicts. She previously earned a B.A. in Social Behavioral Science at Soka University of America, USA, as well as an M.Sc. in Human Ecology at Lund University, Sweden, during both of which she has a special interest in studying what garbage and recycling reveal about locally specific cultural attitudes, structural particularities, and environmental in/justices. Outside of academia, she is also committed to a life of community service, and has volunteered in many different causes since youth.
