Brototi Roy is a political ecologist and ecological economist working on environmental and climate justice with a focus on coal in the global south. She currently holds a Margarita Salas post-doctoral fellowship, based jointly at ICTA-UAB and Central European University, Vienna. She is also a member of the International Society for Ecological Economics, and co-president of Research&Degrowth. She completed her PhD from ICTA-UAB in 2021 as part of the EnvJustice team. She holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Calcutta, India and a M.Sc. in Economics (with specialization in environment and resource management) from TERI University, New Delhi, India.
